Annual Lambton Law Membership Drive

January 2021

A generic invoice went out to Lambton lawyers in January to solicit payment for membership. If you require a more specific invoice from the Association, please contact Michelle Gerrits at lambtonlaw@bellnet.ca.  The cost for 2021 is $185.  Out-of-town counsel who are members with another county/district Association can arrange for a fee of $160.00 (reduced by the FOLA levy).  Payment can be made by cheque or e-transfer.

Lambton Law Association Legal Directory

February 2 2021

An email went out today asking lawyers to complete a form to provide accurate information to build new directories.  A draft of the print directory has been provided as well. We are looking to re-build our online directory in alphabetical and practice area formats as the apps used in our previous format are no longer available for building or making changes.  Please complete the form before the end of February.

Lambton Library Catalogue

February 2 2021

Lambton hosts its own library catalogue and circulation system at https://lambtonlawlib.libib.com/

There have been significant changes to the Law Society of Ontario catalogue with a new format change from AdvoCAT to the  InfoLocate platform.  Library staff have not yet been provided with training for all the bells and whistles, but once I learn the ins and outs, I will offer some tutorials to assist lawyers in navigating the LSO Great Library Catalogue.

Library News

February 2 2021

LIRN, the Legal Information Resource Network, is a subsidiary of the Law Society of Ontario and is to support the provision of law library services and programs.  LIRN as a corporation began its work in January of 2020. They hired a Managing Director in August of 2020 and are in the process of evaluating the system and plan to begin a strategic planning process in February of 2021.  They have set up various surveys to gather information and lawyers are asked to provide input prior to February 5th.  A link to that survey is https://forms.gle/vVbVFsRyfYxfPp8y8

Library staff have been involved in a variety of surveys as well.
